ships and hemoglobins
* ok, i confess, this isn't mini-horse related. let's face it, my drawings can't complete with the cuteness of the real deal. that, and i just don't feel like drawing mini-horse related items right now. this drawing is brought to you by the random suggestion by matt youngblut.

i interrupt this regularly scheduled blog...
* if i may, just this once, post a non-drawing? i think you will agree these unique circumstances call for it. i mean, i'm nearly jumping out of my skin about this!!
so this morning, i was IMing with my friend Matt... here is an excerpt...
i've been obsessed with mini-horses for a long time. the last time i saw one up close & personal was at last year's Iowa State fair and i wanted to make a tiny saddle and ride off into the sunset atop a mini-horse...
anyhow, my work day after our IM chat passed unextraordinarly... by the time i hopped off the train, i was eager to get home. so there i am, walking at a good clip down milwaukee ave - in chicago's wicker park neighborhood, just a block from home...
when all of a sudden! could it be?! no, it couldn't be? yes, it is! a miniature horse is headed my direction! yep, proof that i live on the coolest street ever. Iao, accompanied by his out-of-town owners, was enjoying a walk around the neighborhood. he was super sweet, and obliged when i bent down to pet him.
the universe must be smiling down, cuz i hadn't even blog-drawn about the little guy yet! in honor of Iao, the next few posts will be mini-horse-related! i think this may go down as one of the happiest serendipities ever! yay mini-horses!

i wish we were mallards
* so i've spent the last few weeks finishing these ink drawings on linen... they're for a group show in Santa Fe, New Mexico called You Know How I Feel. i'm super excited to be a part of this show! i wish i could go to the opening, but alas, i'm stuck here in chicago. hopefully these little linens will speak for me, tho. read them 1st to last.
